Facebook: Communications Strategy Training for Congressional Staffers of MASA

On December 1st, the Millennial Action Project teamed up with Facebook to conduct the first in a series of communications strategy training sessions. Facebook instructed dozens of Congressional Future Caucus staffers and members of our Millennial Action Staff Association on how to best leverage Facebook to highlight their office's work. Facebook trained staffers with a unique focus on leveraging their platforms, connecting with diverse groups of constituents, and amplifying their representatives' priorities through Facebook Live.

The Facebook team went over the various safety measures that communications staffers can set up to insure privacy for their representatives, the steps to get their member’s blue badge validation, and how to best moderate their member’s Facebook page. Along with security measures, they also provided the best tips and tricks for conducting Facebook Lives for government officials like broadcasting for more than 3 minutes and scheduling broadcasts so the member’s followers will be alerted when they go live! Lastly, the Facebook team shared how members of Congress can utilize the platform to keep constituents up-to-date and well informed on COVID-19 developments through their Covid Information Hub.

If you are a staffer interested in viewing a replay of the training or a list of resources discussed, please reach out to brittney@millennialaction.org. There will be another communications strategy training session for current and newly elected members staffers in January or February 2021 with a focus on Instagram so be on the lookout!
