On Thursday, September 15th, MAP held its third and final meeting of its Criminal Justice Reform Advisory Council (CJRAC) for the year. Attending this meeting were CJRAC co-chairs Rep. Jamie Scott (D-AR) and Rep. Daniel Pae (R-OK), alongside members Rep. Torren Ecker (R-PA) and Rep. Taylor Small (D-VT). Rep. Quentin Williams (D-CT) also attended the meeting as a guest. Leading the meeting on MAP’s end was Policy Specialist, Sam Sherwood.
Among the key points of this discussion were a reflection on previous conversations regarding juvenile justice reform, and hopes to address policies such as solitary confinement and interrogation practices for young offenders.
With the meetings of the CJRAC having concluded, MAP is now in the opening stages of creating a final report summarizing the CJRAC’s findings, which MAP intends to distribute to its nationwide network of young legislators and policy partners. We look forward to presenting this report upon its completion!
