Leadership Development

MAP’s leadership development program equips young leaders to overcome toxic polarization so they can transform American politics through collaborative governance.

MAP provides a suite of trainings, workshops, fellowships, and leadership development experiences to Gen Z and Millennial legislators. We tailor each session to the unique challenges and opportunities faced by young people in elected office.

Lunch and Learn

The Lunch and Learn series is hosted “by legislators for legislators.” These workshops highlight a legislator in the MAP network who exemplifies a skill that could be modeled as a best practice for others.

State Future Caucus Network Leadership Development

MAP offers leadership development sessions to co-chairs of our State Future Caucus Network. These trainings support their ability to organize, manage, and lead their caucuses. Topics include: Emotional Intelligence, Decision Making, Strategic Planning, Conflict Management, and others.

Bridging Differences Community of Practice

Bridging Differences Community of Practice will support caucuses who want to learn how to move past differences to effectively collaborate with their peers. These sessions are facilitated by Dr. Allison Briscoe (from Greater Good Science Center) and are based on the Bridging Differences Playbook and EDx Course.

MAP University

MAP University is an opportunity for the greater MAP network to connect to leadership development training. Facilitated by issue experts, these sessions are recorded in MAP’s learning library for on-demand access as members navigate various leadership experiences.

Pluribus Fellowship

Inspired largely by the work of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress to bring civility back to politics, the Pluribus Fellowship is an opportunity for a bipartisan cohort of young policymakers to learn and practice the skills MAP’s Congressional Future Caucus identifies as being most valuable to becoming a successful leader. Throughout the fellowship, Members of Congress engage with experts on storytelling, negotiations, and decision-making, while also focusing on deeper competencies around self-care, resiliency, and emotional intelligence.

To develop this curriculum, MAP consulted current and former Members of Congress, as well as experts in neuroscience, resiliency, and legislative negotiations, to teach skills critical to strengthening our democracy.

Training On Demand

MAP provides tailored, on-demand training for Future Caucuses interested in focusing on a specific area of leadership development that will aid in continued collaboration between members of the caucus and the communities they serve.
