HR5381, the Front-Loaded Aid Transparency (FLAT) Act, was introduced this September by Future Caucus member Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03) in an effort to increase financial aid transparency for prospective college students.

Future Caucus member Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-6) is leading an effort to expand tax-favored savings options for Americans looking to build new career and job skills. HR1242, the Skills Investment Act of 2021, is a bipartisan bill that would modify existing Coverdell savings accounts to create lifelong learning accounts that enable access to a variety of training and retraining initiatives across the workforce.

Congressional Future Caucus (CFC) member Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-6) introduced HR3870, the Teacher Education for Computer Science Act, in the House of Representatives. Fellow Future Caucus member Rep. Two members of the Future Caucus, Reps. Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) and Stephanie Murphy (FL-07), are advancing the national conversation around student debt while providing support for borrowers through HR2983, the Readily Ending Debt Under Corporate Engagement or REDUCE Act.

H.R.2090, introduced by CFC member Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-3) on March 19th 2021 would require lenders of federal loans to publish certain disclosures to the general public.

H.R. 447, The National Apprenticeship Act of 2021, recently passed the House of Representatives on February 5th, 2021, by a vote of 247-173. H.R. 447 is authored by Rep. Bobby Scott (VA-03) and co-sponsored by Congressional Future Caucus (CFC) members Reps. Adam Kinzinger (IL-16), Andre Carson (IN-07), Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Ruben Gallego (AZ-07), Mondaire Jones (NY-17), Ro Khanna (CA-17), Derek Kilmer (WA-06), Grace Meng (NY-06), Seth Moulton (MA-06), Joe Neguse (CO-02), Darren Soto (FL-09), Haley Stevens (MI-11), and Rodney Davis (IL-13).

On December 1st, 2020 the U.S Senate passed S.1153, Stop Student Debt Relief Scams Act of 2019, introduced by Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and co-sponsored by four Democratic and four Republican senators. This bill was originally introduced simultaneously in the House of Representatives by Congressional Future Caucus (CFC) co-chair Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI-11) as H.R 2888 with bipartisan co-sponsorship in May 2019.

As Congressional responses to the coronavirus crisis continue to dominate headlines and pundits continue to speculate on the make-up of forthcoming aid, Congressional Future Caucus members are leading efforts to fill in gaps and make corrections in several areas. Caucus members Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21) and Rep. Joe Neguse (D-CO-2) have both introduced bipartisan, solutions-oriented legislation to improve and advance national COVID-19 responses, countering unproductive national political narratives and building on a generational move towards post-partisanship.

On July 23, 2019, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 2397, the American Manufacturing Leadership Act. This legislation was authored by Congressional Future Caucus (CFC) co-chair Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI-11) and was cosponsored by fellow Future Caucus members from both sides of the aisle, including: Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH-16), Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA-4), and former Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA-25).

Congressman Robert Dold (R-IL) recently penned an op-ed in the Chicago Sun Times calling for Americans to unite behind the HELP for Students & Parents Act, a bipartisan legislative effort to help individuals and families better save and prepare for the costs of college. The bill has received broad support from members of the Congressional Future Caucus.
