On Tuesday, June 13th, Indiana Future Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Dan Forestal (D-Indianapolis) joined City-County Councillor Colleen Fanning, Senator Eddie Melton, and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce for their Pancakes & Politics Series. The panel addressed multiple facets of the millennial experience, including their participation in politics. Rep. Forestal was able to highlight the work of the Future Caucus in bringing about future-focused change and amplifying the voices of young lawmakers.
Pancakes & Politics is a quarterly series held by the Indy Chamber where local businesspeople and elected officials come together to network and hear from policy experts.
One of the goals of the session was to break down negative generational stereotypes that isolate millennials from other generations, preventing cooperation and understanding. Future Caucuses around the nation are bringing together under-40 legislators and their millennial constituents. By modeling bipartisan dialogue and highlighting young lawmakers, MAP continues to combat millennial disaffection with the political process.
