On January 27th, Millennial Action Project and the Millennial Action Staff Association (MASA) held the first Millennial Mondays lunch of 2020. Millennial Mondays is a lunch series that invites staffers from both parties to network, socialize, and share information on the latest bills that they have been working on. This gives them a chance to build interest and create the coalitions needed to push legislation forward.

On October 26th and 27th, Millennial Action Project Founder and President Steven Olikara traveled to Nashville to participate in Politicon, an annual event that brings together some of the most recognizable and influential names in politics to discuss and debate the most prominent current political issues. Olikara participated in four separate panels, acting as a moderator for some of the marquee pairings that convened at the event.

On Tuesday, October 22, Millennial Action Project (MAP) partnered with the Brookings Institution to host a morning of programming dedicated to better understanding how Millennials think and engage around two long-term issues: climate change and the national debt. Spearheaded by Brookings Economics Studies fellow Dr. Stuart Butler, the event brought together leading members of the academic, political and nonprofit communities to discuss Millennial attitudes towards these issues, and explore what can be done to drive action going forward.

Tuesday, September 24th marked the 7th Annual National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) which encourages citizens to register for the first time or update their voter registration. To celebrate, the Millennial Action Project partnered with members of the State Future Caucus Network (SFCN) as part of a social media campaign and hosted events to engage with potential new voters in their districts. This year, NVRD broke an “off-year” record by registering or updating the voter registration of 400,000 citizens nationwide.

On Thursday, September 19th the Millennial Action Project convened members of the Congressional Future Caucus and leading stakeholders from academia, industry, and government to discuss the global rise of artificial intelligence. Over dinner, attendees discussed the state of domestic AI policy, the progress of computing advancements, the persistent need for human capital, and the debate around data regulation. Throughout the evening we heard encouraging consensus from most parties involved who agreed broadly on the transformational nature of this technology and the need for more urgent U.S. leadership.

On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, MAP’s State Caucus Network Director Cherisse Eatmon attended a bill signing in Salem, Oregon with Oregon’s State Treasurer Tobias Read and two Oregon Future Caucus members, Representative Julie Fahey and Representative Jack Zika. The Educational Savings Credit was signed into law by Governor Kate Brown and allows families to receive an income tax credit up to $300 for contributions to a college savings plan
