National Voter Registration Day 2019

Tuesday, September 24th marked the 7th Annual National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) which encourages citizens to register for the first time or update their voter registration. To celebrate, the Millennial Action Project partnered with members of the State Future Caucus Network (SFCN) as part of a social media campaign and hosted events to engage with potential new voters in their districts. This year, NVRD broke an “off-year” record by registering or updating the voter registration of 400,000 citizens nationwide.

In total, thirteen MAP affiliated individuals and groups from eleven different states participated in NVRD activities. State legislators, Rep. Geran Tarr (AK) and Sen. David Carlucci (NY) hosted voter registration drives in their districts to register voters and pre-register sixteen and seventeen year olds.

In addition, MAP affiliates had a strong presence on college campuses this year. Former SFCN member Secretary of State Frank LaRose (OH) participated by helping register college students at Ohio State University and MAP at the University of Wisconsin—the first collegiate MAP chapter—helped register voters on their campus in Madison. Jessica Gottsleben from the Young Leaders Council (YLC) also participated.
