On January 27th, Millennial Action Project and the Millennial Action Staff Association (MASA) held the first Millennial Mondays lunch of 2020. Millennial Mondays is a lunch series that invites Congressional Future Caucus staffers and colleagues both parties to network, socialize, and share information on the latest bills that they have been working on. This gives them a chance to build interest and create the coalitions needed to push bipartisan legislation forward.
At this first meeting of the year, staffers presented on a wide variety of different topics, ranging from fentanyl classification, to water quality, to regulation of the cosmetics industry, and more. This included bills that they have been working on for a long time as well as previewing bills that have not yet been officially introduced in an effort to build bipartisan consensus on national, as well as regional and local issues.
The open environment of the lunch setting allowed staffers to connect and interact freely, encouraging cooperation between those who would not otherwise necessarily get to communicate in that fashion. Providing spaces like this where real work can happen is one of the goals of MASA as well as one of the broader goals of the Millennial Action Project.
MASA is open to all staffers who are interested and come at legislation with the right attitude of collaboration and cooperation. If you or someone you know would like to join the Staff Association or be included on future mailings, or if you would like more information on legislation discussed at this lunch, please reach out to Joe Greaney at joe.greaney@millennialaction.org.
