Indian-American Gen Z Summit for Political Engagement

On September 23rd, North Carolina Future Caucus Co-Chairs, Representative Chaz Beasley and Senator Jay Chaudhuri, hosted a half-day summit with more than 60 attendees.  The Indian-American Gen Z Summit for Political Engagement, organized by Senator Chaudhuri, connected young North Carolina Indian-Americans with elected officials on the state and local levels.  Attendees and speakers came from across the state to the Elon University School of Law in Greensboro to take part in this half-day Summit geared towards younger generations

In addition to two of the NC Future Caucus Co-Chairs, other elected official panelists included Town Council Member Satish Garimella (Town of Morrisville), Mayor Pro Tem Steve Rao (Town of Morrisville), and Senator Gladys Robinson (NC State Senate).  Attendees heard from a diverse group of speakers including other community leaders with varying insights on how young people getting involved in public service can be both intrinsically rewarding and beneficial for the state of North Carolina.  Topics included strategies for political engagement at both the state and local levels, current applications of the civil rights movement, and non-traditional engagement activities.
