On Wednesday, March 29th, over a dozen young state legislators and MAP convened to launch the Indiana Future Caucus. Representatives Dan Forestal (D-100) and David Ober (R-82) announced the creation of the bipartisan caucus comprised of state legislators under age 40. This new caucus will be a voice for millennial Hoosiers, who make up more than a quarter of state’s total population. Reps. Forestal and Ober join Millennial Action Project’s national effort to support young elected officials as they work to break through partisan gridlock and reestablish political cooperation on issues that millennials care about.

“Although millennials outnumber baby boomers in Indiana, most don’t believe that they have a say in the way government operates. By uniting behind the issues facing their generation, instead of being divided by party lines, young legislators can work together to disrupt politics as usual and create meaningful change,” said Steven Olikara, Co-Founder and President of Millennial Action Project. “Thank you to Reps. Forestal and Ober for leading the charge in Indiana to ensure that the issues most important to millennials are a priority.”

Rep. Forestal added, “We join in a common purpose and cause to ensure the concerns of millennials are not lost when the Indiana General Assembly sets its agenda each session. These concerns are not Democratic or Republican. They are concerns of Hoosiers, particularly those of a younger generation who are preparing to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
