Representative Julie Emerson

Louisiana Future Caucus, Co-Chair (R) 

Julie Emerson was born and raised in Louisiana and grew up in Carencro where she still resides. Educated locally, Julie graduated from Westminster Christian Academy in Opelousas and received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.

After college, Julie founded Lagniappe Communications Group, a communications and public relations firm where she serves as chief strategist. In her role with Lagniappe, she has consulted with multiple public officials, non-profits, and businesses on how to best develop and articulate their brands and messages.

Julie has been an active Republican since her high school days, having worked with the Republican Party of Louisiana and attending the 2008, 2012, and 2016 state and national conventions. She currently serves as an elected member of the Republican State Central Committee.

In October 2015, Julie was elected to serve as the State Representative for House District 39 representing northern Lafayette Parish (Carencro, Scott, Ossun, Vatican) and southern St Landry Parish (Cankton, Opelousas, Arnaudville). She is currently the youngest member of the Louisiana legislature. This is not only something she considers a great an honor, but is beneficial as strives to bring new, fresh ideas to her beloved home state. She currently serves on the standing committees on Civil Law, Education, and Agriculture and the special committee on Homeland Security.

In her first year in the House, Julie was asked by House Leadership to serve as the Communications Chairman for the House Republican Delegation. For the 2016 legislative cycle she was awarded the Family Advocate Award from the Louisiana Family Forum, the All-Star Award from the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), and the Award for Conservative Achievement from the American Conservative Union (ACU) making her one of the Top 5 most conservative legislators in Louisiana.
