MAP and the Congressional Future Caucus brought together public and private leaders for a roundtable discussion to address the Veterans Skills Gap using open data technology. This discussion was a follow up to a convening held at 1776, a global hub for entrepreneurship. Aneesh Chopra, Former White House Chief Technology Officer, moderated the conversation, and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and Congressman Joe Kennedy were both in attendance.

As a result of the Future Caucus' call to action, in September 2014 a coalition of technology companies were able to unveil "Veterans Talent," a new platform leveraging open data to close the skills gap and increase employment of young veterans.

Public and private sector data partners, including Monster.com, LinkedIn and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, signed on to launch "Veterans Talent: An Open Data Collaboration" to present a one-of-a-kind national map of the skills of veterans, the skills sought after by employers looking to hire veterans, and early insights from leading economists on the implications for workforce development.
