A new group of young legislators is meeting in Springfield to discuss current issues facing the millennial generation

The Illinois Future Caucus is a bi-partisan group consisting of twelve elected representatives, each in their 20's and 30's. The caucus was formed by Rep. Will Guzzardi (D-Chicago) and Rep. Tom Demmer (R-Dixon).

The group was formed with the belief that lawmakers can work together to address the challenges facing the next generation of Illinoisians.

The caucus has a goal is to pass four bills this session, including allowing younger people to apply for hunting licenses, allowing craft distilleries to produce more product, and allow public beer tastings. Others include Freedom of Speech for young journalists and creating an advisory council for at-risk youth.

Illinois is the twelfth state to form a Future Caucus of young legislators. The state caucuses work in concert with the Congressional Future Caucus, and are coordinated by the Millennial Action Project.
