“Florida will send a bipartisan pair — Democratic Miami area Rep. Kevin Chambliss and Republican Rep. Berny Jacques of Seminole — to the Millennial Action Project (MAP)’s Future Summit in Indianapolis next weekend, an event billed as a conference for the country’s most promising, effective lawmakers.

“I was honored to spend the weekend with a group of young leaders from around the country who are on the frontlines of preparing positive public policy for generations to come,” Jones said in a statement. “As a member of the bipartisan Florida Future Caucus, I’ve seen firsthand how much we can accomplish when we focus on innovative and forward-looking solutions to the problems our state is facing.”
The Florida State Future Caucus said it plans to hold regional events to get feedback from millennials before the next legislative session. Future Caucuses are now in 17 states, including Texas and California.
Today, Representatives Holly Raschein (R-120) and Sean Shaw (D-61), along with Senators Lauren Book (D-32) and Anitere Flores (R-39), announced the creation of the bipartisan Florida State Future Caucus, a brand-new caucus comprised of state legislators under age 40. The announcement is part of a nation-wide movement in state houses across the country where millennial legislators are seeking to find common ground in an era of hyper partisanship. Future Caucuses have now been established in 17 states across the country, including the three most populous–Florida, Texas and California–building momentum for a more collaborative approach to government among the nation’s youngest leaders.
