Area young professionals took part in a bipartisan discussion focusing on the dysfunctional political climate in the United States and opportunities for overcoming the divisiveness through bipartisan leadership.
On Wednesday, August 14, 2019 members of the Iowa Future Caucus led a tour of renewable energy facilities in the Hawkeye State. Legislators sought to learn more about renewable energy and the opportunities it creates for jobs, the economy and the environment.
On July 13, 2019, the Millennial Action Project, in partnership with the University of Chicago Institute of Politics and the Iowa Future Caucus, hosted ‘Iowa in Action.’ The half day event brought together undergraduate students with members of the Iowa legislature, journalists, organizers, and other thought leaders to learn more about politics and government in Iowa.
On Tuesday, February 19, 2019, Senator Zach Nunn (R-15),Senator Zach Wahls (D-37), Representative Lindsay James (D-99), and Representative Joe Mitchell (R-84) announced the creation of the Iowa Future Caucus—a caucus dedicated to reaching bipartisan policy solutions addressing issues faced by Millennials and future generations. These four state legislators constitute the leadership of the caucus.

Bipartisan millennial leaders launch social media effort to educate Iowa voters on new absentee voting process
Olikara recounted how just last week a group of young elected leaders in Iowa came together across party lines to release a series of online videos through social media, aimed at motivating fellow millennials to vote and participate in other ways. It is but one among many examples of young people around the country standing up for our democracy, and reaching out to their peers.
Because the process will be new to many Iowans, the Iowa Future Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of young members of the General Assembly, launched a campaign this week to promote it.
Though they both grew up in Iowa, they hail from different worlds. Now, these two legislators are joining forces to advance climate solutions in their state.

Speakers said what they've heard from young people is that what they care about most in politics is republicans and democrats working together to get things done, however, we haven’t seen that as much in today’s politics.
ImpactCR will host two members of the Iowa legislature who are working to solve conflict and find middle ground in today's bitter political climate. Senator Zach Wahls (D-Coralville, pictured below, left) and Representative Joe Mitchell (R-Mount Pleasant, pictured below, right) will be discussing their participation in the Iowa Future Caucus - a group of the state’s youngest lawmakers dedicated to reaching bipartisan policy solutions addressing issues faced by millennials and future generations. The Iowa Future Caucus, a bipartisan, bicameral group of four state legislators, toured four renewable energy facilities this week in hopes of getting a more intimate look at Iowa's own production.
On Tuesday, state legislators embarked on an all-day tour of renewable energy facilities in Iowa. During their visit to Colo, they toured the Story Winds facility and got a snapshot of Iowa’s wind energy industry. The group of legislators are a part of Future Iowa Caucus, a bipartisan group of state legislators age 40 and younger, included Rep. Lindsay James, D-Dubuque; Rep. Joe Mitchell, R-Mount Pleasant; and Sen. Zach Wahls, D-Coralville.
